APRIL VIDEO MESSAGE

RSCK Members,

I hope this message finds you well as we transition into the summer season. As your President, I am thrilled to provide you with an update on the latest happenings within our industry and organization.

April was Fair Housing Month, and it is an important reminder of the vital role that we play in promoting equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in housing. We must continue to educate ourselves and our clients on the importance of fair housing laws and work to eliminate any barriers that prevent people from accessing the homes they desire.

Looking ahead in 2023, there are several updates from both the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and the Kansas Association of REALTORS (KAR) that I would like to highlight. At the national level, NAR is focusing on several key issues, including:

  • Housing affordability: NAR is advocating for policies that will increase access to affordable housing, such as expanding the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and promoting public-private partnerships to develop affordable housing.
  • Fair housing: In addition to ongoing efforts to combat discrimination, NAR is working to promote diversity and inclusion in the real estate industry through initiatives such as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program.
  • Technology: As technology continues to transform the real estate industry, NAR is investing in research and development to ensure that REALTORS have the tools and resources they need to stay ahead of the curve.

At the state level, KAR is also working to address a range of issues that affect our industry and our clients. Some of the key priorities for KAR in 2023 include:

  • Property tax reform: KAR is advocating for reforms to the property tax system in Kansas that will make it fairer and more predictable for homeowners and businesses.
  • Professional development: KAR is committed to providing opportunities for REALTORS to enhance their skills and knowledge through training, education, and networking.
  • Advocacy: KAR is working to represent the interests of Kansas REALTORS in the state legislature and other policy-making bodies, to ensure that our voice is heard on issues that matter to our industry.

As your President, I am committed to keeping you informed and engaged on these and other issues that affect our profession. I encourage you to stay involved with our association, to participate in our events and activities, and to help us continue to promote the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in the real estate industry.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our profession.

Sincerely,

Braden R. McCurdy, CAI, AARE

Who We Are

RSCK:
Established in 1921 - Celebrating 100 Years of Excellence

The REALTORS® of South Central Kansas (RSCK) is a local affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and is the largest REALTOR Association in the state of Kansas with
more than 2400 members. Our membership is composed of residential and commercial REALTORS®, brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors, and others who
are engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry. Our members have met state requirements to sell real estate, but, most importantly, each member has also pledged to adhere to a strict Code of Ethics, promising to conduct their day-to- day business with the foremost
concern for their clients. Information regarding the REALTOR® Code of Ethics can be found here.

The RSCK Mission

To enhance the ability of our members to achieve success in an ethical and professional manner, advocate for and be the voice of the real estate industry in South Central Kansas.

SCK MLS:
About South Central Kansas MLS

South Central Kansas MLS (SCK MLS) was formed in 2004 and has been a trusted source for the most complete and accurate real estate information for South Central Kansas.  SCK MLS covers a service area of 5 counties—Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Cowley, and Sumner.  SCK MLS provides authorized participants a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and a Commercial Information Exchange (CIE).  SCK MLS currently provides services to approximately 2,500 real estate participants and subscribers.

SCK MLS provides real estate professionals with reliable, cost-effective access to a variety of multiple listing service products and services to serve their business needs in today’s fast-paced industry.

MLS is a means by which authorized participants make blanket unilateral offers of cooperation and compensation to other participants and is a facility for the orderly correlation and dissemination of listing information among the participants so they may better serve their clients and the public.  MLS property listings can be viewed publicly through kansasresidential.com (powered by Homesnap) or at Realtor.com, in addition to many other subscriber websites.

CIE serves as a commercial information exchange and can be found at kscommercialre.com.  Participants who have been retained by sellers of commercial property to market those properties may submit information on those properties to the CIE.  Participants who have been retained by buyers of a commercial property may submit information of the type of property sought to the CIE.  Any compensation agreements related to the property included in the CIE compilation must be made on an individual basis outside of the CIE between the Participants involved.  A CIE is not an MLS, no offers of cooperation and compensation are communicated through filing information on a property within the CIE.

SCK MLS helped facilitate over 12,654 transactions, worth over $2.4 Billion. SCK MLS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the REALTORS of South Central Kansas.
