The Candidate Training Academy gives REALTORS® an introduction to and expectation of how to run for public office. It is a valuable head start on the political journey and imparts information on how to run successful campaigns. The Candidate Training Academy will take place on August 3, 2023 between 11AM and 5PM at the KCRAR Leawood Office:

NAR has conveniently established a “core” curriculum which consists of seven chapters. Each chapter takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to facilitate. John Winston, NAR Campaign Services Manager, and Justin Allen, REAL Strategies Senior Strategic Consultant, will facilitate this training alongside KAR and KCRAR staff.

Upon completion of this training session, participants will be able to:
(1) Assess whether they possess the basic traits necessary to run for office.
(2) State (in 30 seconds) why they are running for office.
(3) Describe the elements necessary for developing a campaign plan and begin the planning process.
(4) Discuss their research needs based on their target audience and their budget estimates.
(5) Plan for the fundraising methods, based on their individual campaign’s strengths, that can prove most effective and lucrative.
(6) Determine the best methods for contacting their constituents based on voter demographics and budget.
(7) Analyze the electronic campaign options available to determine which, if any, will prove most effective for their outreach.
(8) Assess the multiple avenues to approach a get-out-the-vote plan to determine which elements would be useful to their campaign planning.
