The CIC committee has been busy! We just wrapped up our annual backpack/sock drive, and it was a huge success.

Thank you to all the members who donated, continuing our support of this special event.  We provided over 700 back packs filled with supplies to the McKinney-Vinto program!

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act requires that all schools provide students in transition with immediate access to an education, even if the child lacks school records, a birth certificate, medical/immunizations documents, or proof of residency. The Wichita Public Schools has a strong commitment to ensure that all homeless children and youth receive a meaningful opportunity to enroll and attend all public schools in the district.”

Great job RSCK members!

On October 12th we will be hosting a fundraising event for the Realtor Relief Fund at Public at the Brick Yard.  Considering the tragedy that has affected Maui, I hope that everyone can join us for a night of live and silent auctions, food, live music, and networking.  Be on the look out for sponsorship opportunities and purchase your tickets early.

On September 23rd we will be hosting a bed building day to support Sleep in Heavenly Peace https://shpbeds.org/chapter/ks-sedgwick-co/https://shpbeds.org/chapter/ks-sedgwick-co/.  We are currently looking for sponsors, donations and volunteers for this event.  The Sedgwick County Chapter of SHP started just over a year ago.  We set a goal to build 100 beds which will be the biggest build day this chapter has completed.  Please help us support this great cause and help ensure no child in Wichita sleeps on the floor.

“So many great charities provide clothing, meals, and toys to families in need. But as wonderful as this aid is, few organizations offer suitable beds and bedding to the kids in these families.

At SHP, we fully believe that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs. When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighborhoods, we stepped up and took initiative. We’re a national organization answering the call to a national problem.

If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®”

Check out the RSCK Website for upcoming events and sponsorship opportunities!
