COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE
Kris Horth
Chair CIC Committee
Is Spring really almost here? Time really does seem to fly by so very quickly.
It is my honor to have been chosen to be the Chair of The Community Involvement Committee this year. The committee has met a several times already and has some great ideas for this year.
In February, we collected non-perishable items to help Paxton’s Blessings “Souperbowl Drive”. The food donations collected filled several vehicles to capacity and we are proud to know that our donations helped fill the bellies of many at-need Wichitans. Paxton’s Blessing Box is a great volunteer opportunity that the committee has enjoyed being a part of for the last several years, and will continue to do so for years to come. For more information about Paxton’s Blessing Box ~ check out their website. https://paxtonsblessingbox.com/
On April 27, we will be participating in a bed building day and partnering with the Sedgwick County Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. https://shpbeds.org/chapter/ks-sedgwick-co/https://shpbeds.org/chapter/ks-sedgwick-co/. This organization builds beds for kids 18 and under. Their motto is “If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®” Last fall was the first time we were a part of this event, and it was decided that we would like to do this again. During the event, 100 beds were built. This year the goal is 50 beds. The organization has a limited space to store the beds.
Watch for upcoming events such as the back to school backpack drive, Realtor® Relief Fundraiser in the fall, and other events we will be doing for the community.
Happy Spring Everyone!
