COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE

“Spring is the time of plans and projects.” ~ Leo Tolstoy
The bed build that was scheduled for April 27 has been moved to June 1. The committee is in the process of getting donations and sponsorships so that this event will be amazing. We will be partnering with the Sedgwick County Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. https://shpbeds.org/chapter/ks-sedgwick-co/https://shpbeds.org/chapter/ks-sedgwick-co/. This organization builds beds for kids 18 and under. Their motto is “If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!®” Last fall was the first time we were a part of this event, and it was decided that we would like to do this again. During the event, 100 beds were built. This year the goal is 50 beds. The organization has a limited space to store the beds. If you would like to be a sponsor, or to come out and volunteer for this event, please do not hesitate to reach out to out committee members and let them know.
In June and July our annual backpack drive will be held. Information will be posted and donation boxes will be distributed. For those who have never participated in this – as a committee we collect school supplies and backpacks and donate them to the McKinney Vento Organization. Over the years, hundreds of kids were able to have new backpacks and brand-new school supplies. There is nothing like seeing all the vehicles stuffed with new supplies that have been donated by all of the wonderful brokerages and Realtors®.
As fast as this year is flying by, there are still many events to come.
Stay Safe! Stay Busy! Enjoy Every Day!
