COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE
Kris Horth
Every year you make a resolution to change yourself. This year, make a resolution to be yourself!
This year has flown by in the blink of an eye, and I don’t believe I am the only one who feels this way. Looking back, 2024 had its ups and downs. From the lawsuits to the changing interest rates and houses sitting a little longer. Going into 2025, I am excited, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
The Community Involvement Committee has been busy this year helping our community and Association. We jump-started our year by collecting cans of food for Paxton’s Souper Bowl drive; something the committee has done for several years. It warms our hearts knowing that we help to fill all those red boxes throughout the city.
In June, we partnered with Sedgwick County Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace for the second year in a row, to help build 50 beds for kids in need. This nationwide organization is working very hard to make sure that no kid sleeps on the floor. There were many volunteers that came out to help us as the day flew by quickly. A great big thank you to all who volunteered, donated, sponsored and helped to make this an amazing event!
From there, we jumped right into collecting backpacks for the McKinney Vento program in early August. We were proud to be able to deliver over 700 backpacks along with school supplies for this organization. They were immensely grateful for the donations from our generous membership, and we were super proud to have been able to help.
Lastly, we cannot forget our big fundraiser for the Realtor® Relief Foundation. At the end of September, we gathered at Public at Brickyard to network and raise funds. The event was a great success. There was live music, a silent auction, live auction, raffle prizes, wine toss, food, and drinks. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this great cause!
Our final project of the year will be collecting donations for Harbor House Domestic Violence Shelter. You can find the wish list here!
It has been my privilege to have served on this committee for the last few years. It is a great feeling to be able to help our community and know that we have made an impact. I am excited to see what the future holds for this committee.
Thank you to all the members of CIC for your commitment to this committee and your willingness to help our community!
