2025 RSCK President
Christy Friesen

Dear Members,

As we turn the page toward fall, it’s hard not to reflect on what a season of change this truly is, both in nature and in real estate.

After a summer that saw record-low sales across Kansas, many of us are looking ahead with cautious optimism. Inventory has begun to climb, days on market have stretched, and while activity has slowed, these shifts may also be setting the stage for a healthier, more balanced market.

One of the most closely watched developments is the possibility of a Federal Reserve rate cut this fall. For our industry, the impact of such a move could be significant. Lower borrowing costs open the door for more first-time buyers to enter the market, give move-up buyers new confidence to take the next step, and even help sellers who have been hesitant to list finally make their move. A small adjustment in interest rates could provide just the spark needed to restore some momentum and stability after a difficult summer.

At the same time, we are about to face another wave of legal challenges, this time from the buyer’s side of the transaction. While these lawsuits are different from the commission-related cases that dominated the past few years, they serve as a reminder that our industry continues to evolve in ways that require us to stay informed, adaptable, and united. Change is never easy, but it can also create opportunities for us to strengthen our professionalism and reinforce the value we bring to clients every day.

Just as the changing leaves remind us that each season brings something new, this fall is a good time to pause, reset, and prepare for what’s ahead. While the market and our industry may continue to shift, the core of what we do - guiding clients, building relationships, and strengthening our communities - remains steady. By focusing on those fundamentals and leaning on each other, we can move into the months ahead with confidence and optimism.

Wishing you a season of renewal and progress,

Christy Friesen

SCK MLS:
About South Central Kansas MLS

South Central Kansas MLS (SCK MLS) was formed in 2004 and has been a trusted source for the most complete and accurate real estate information for South Central Kansas.  SCK MLS covers a service area of 5 counties—Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Cowley, and Sumner.  SCK MLS provides authorized participants a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and a Commercial Information Exchange (CIE).  SCK MLS currently provides services to approximately 2,500 real estate participants and subscribers.

SCK MLS provides real estate professionals with reliable, cost-effective access to a variety of multiple listing service products and services to serve their business needs in today’s fast-paced industry.

MLS is a means by which authorized participants make blanket unilateral offers of cooperation and compensation to other participants and is a facility for the orderly correlation and dissemination of listing information among the participants so they may better serve their clients and the public.  MLS property listings can be viewed publicly through kansasresidential.com (powered by Homesnap) or at Realtor.com, in addition to many other subscriber websites.

CIE serves as a commercial information exchange and can be found at kscommercialre.com.  Participants who have been retained by sellers of commercial property to market those properties may submit information on those properties to the CIE.  Participants who have been retained by buyers of a commercial property may submit information of the type of property sought to the CIE.  Any compensation agreements related to the property included in the CIE compilation must be made on an individual basis outside of the CIE between the Participants involved.  A CIE is not an MLS, no offers of cooperation and compensation are communicated through filing information on a property within the CIE.

SCK MLS helped facilitate over 12,654 transactions, worth over $2.4 Billion. SCK MLS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the REALTORS of South Central Kansas.
