2023 was a great year for the Foundation and we had great success in utilizing our strategic plan and “ checking off” items in our 4 strategic plan categories.
Increase Fundraising-
We implemented a golf tournament that raised close to $20,000 that was contributed to the HRDC Homeward Point program that we have committed to $100,000 donation over the next 5 years. We ended the year $35,000 in total towards our goal.
The Gala although low on attendance was able to reduce costs and raise monies to help with the monies to HRDC. We did realize that the Gala may not be something worth doing next year but the BoD will determine in early 2024.
Realtor Trap Shoot will be May 5, 2024 where we will hope to raise monies and increase members to have fun and do new things together.
2024 will also hopefully launch a TBD collective that will hopefully capture funds from agents, buyers, sellers, lenders and title companies at closing that will go towards affordable housing. We were fortunate to have a guest speaker from Big Sky Ania Bulis who started a similar project called the https://www.therealestatecollective.org/
Improve Impact-
We spoke at many GAR events this year hoping to increase awareness of the GRCF and specifically the benevolent fund that helps members in times of need either physically or financially up to $1000. We unfortunately didn't have any applications in 2023 but we hope to continue to make members aware.
We were able to do this in a few different areas but need better focus on our tasks in the strategic plan. Some 2024 goals are:
- Make frequent and regular presentations at member offices about our impact, priorities and fundraising initiatives.
- Make frequent and regular presentations at Gallatin Association of Realtors member and committee meetings and events.
- Promote and actively participate as GRCF in aligned community events.
- Provide compassionate non-monetary support to members and partners when they face known personal crises or challenges.
Ensure Durability
We introduced 3 new BoD members at the end of 2023. All of them will be great at helping grow the GRCF and continue to meet the goals of the group. We invited them to the Nov BoD to help them see an agenda and understand the process of a meeting. We gave them copies of the strategic plan and included them in helping us fill out our end of year strategic plan checklist.
We will continue to work our way through in 2024 and will include
- Organize, promote and grow participation in volunteer opportunities.
- Engage in successful succession planning for board members and leadership staff.
- Approve, make progress on and regularly monitor performance toward organizational objectives, tactics and targets.
Thank you and I wish the Foundation Committee the best of luck in the New Year,
Tyler Garrison
