What is the Legal Hotline?
The Legal HOTLINE is a service for members of the Montana Association of REALTORS®. It is funded through dues paid by REALTORS® statewide.
The Legal Hotline is available to Broker In Charge to help you navigate the legal challenges of the real estate business.
The HOTLINE provides legal information, NOT legal representation. It offers answers to real estate questions that have broad applicability.
The Hotline may be used with the following guidelines:
- Only the Broker In Charge in your office is authorized to use the Hotline.
- The Hotline will not act as legal counsel for a caller. The Hotline services do not create an attorney/client relationship.
- The Hotline will not respond to issues that require more than two hours of research. The caller will be advised to seek independent legal counsel.
- The Hotline will not answer questions regarding the REALTOR® Code of Ethics, Arbitration, Professional Standards, Member Policy or governing document reviews. You will be referred to contact GAR or MAR in these instances.
- Only one question per call is allowed.
- An email account has been designated for the sole use of the Hotline and designated members are encouraged to utilize the email when sending their question to the Hotline.
- The Hotline hours of operation are: Mon. - Fri. 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. You can email the Hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you are the Broker In Charge for your office and need contact information for the Legal Hotline, please call the MAR office at 406-443-4032 or email info@montanarealtors.org
