Last year challenged all of us in different ways — shifting markets, evolving consumer expectations, regulatory changes, and no shortage of “wait…what now?” moments. But here we are, stepping into 2026, ready for whatever this new year has in store.

In fact, this new year has already brought change. As many of you are aware, our MLS has opened access to non-Realtors. While this shift has not resulted in any noticeable day-to-day changes for most members, it was an important step in positioning our MLS more securely from a legal and compliance standpoint. This move reflects the broader industry landscape and helps ensure we remain proactive rather than reactive as regulations and expectations continue to evolve.

As we start the new year, I wanted to share an update on the work your Board and MLS Committee have been doing behind the scenes. We’ve spent considerable time developing a new strategic plan designed to support you more effectively, adapt to a changing industry, and ensure our MLS remains relevant, valuable, and forward-thinking.

Here are the top five strategic priorities guiding our work for the next several years:

• A stronger, more agile MLS that is independent, tech-forward, and built for efficient decision-making
• Better cooperation across markets to reduce overlap, improve professionalism, and create more referral opportunities
• Smarter use of MLS technology through training, thoughtful adoption of new tools, and staying ahead of AI-driven change
• More exposure for listings with consumer-facing marketing and lead-generation initiatives for MLS participants
• Expanded services and revenue options to increase long-term relevance, flexibility, and sustainability

You’ll be hearing more about each of these initiatives as the year unfolds, with opportunities for feedback, participation, and discussion along the way.
