On Tuesday, June 6, REALTORS® from across the state – including several of our GMAR members – were in Lansing for REALTOR® Day at the Michigan Capitol.

The event, hosted by the Michigan REALTORS®, gave our members the opportunity to speak with Michigan Legislators that craft our laws about the issues facing the real estate industry.

A few of our GMAR members presented on the steps of the Capitol including Karen Greenwood, who is also Michigan REALTORS® Public Policy Chair.  They spoke on many of the policy issues that REALTORS® around the state face every day, such as laws that affect independent contractors, short-term rentals, housing supply issues and the statewide septic code to name a few.

We also had GMAR member and NAR Vice President for Region 6, Gary Reggish, highlight some of NAR’s community outreach programs.

Gary also had the honor of introducing NAR President Kenny Parcell who joined us in Lansing as a part of NAR’s ‘Ride with the Brand’ Bus Tour.  Kenny shared with the crowd the importance of the REALTOR® brand and highlighted some of the recent ways NAR has advocated on behalf of REALTORS® everywhere.
