2054 RSCK President
Christy Friesen

RSCK Members,

As we step further into 2025, the real estate industry continues to evolve, bringing both challenges and opportunities.

The past several months have tested us in many ways. From the always unpredictable Kansas weather to high interest rates creating hesitation among buyers and sellers, we’ve had to navigate shifting conditions with adaptability and persistence. Market uncertainty has reinforced the importance of staying professional and proactive in how we serve our clients and communities.

While inventory remains tight in many areas, new construction has started to pick up in an effort to meet demand. However, affordability remains a challenge, particularly for first-time buyers who continue to feel the impact of rising costs. Interest rates, a major topic in 2024, are still shaping the market in 2025. While we’ve seen some stabilization, buyers and sellers are adjusting to what is now considered the “new normal” for borrowing costs. Home values across the state have held steady, with many areas experiencing a slowdown in appreciation - opening doors for buyers who were previously priced out. Meanwhile, sellers are becoming more strategic, recognizing that competitive pricing and strong marketing are key to success in this environment.

Through it all, our role as REALTORS® has never been more important. Now, more than ever, we have the opportunity to focus on mastery - sharpening our skills, deepening our knowledge, and reaffirming our commitment to excellence. Prioritizing education and professionalism not only strengthens our reputations, but also builds trust with clients and reinforces the value we bring to every transaction.

Looking ahead, our collective mission should be to prove our worth, not just through words, but through actions. Whether it’s advocating for property rights, providing exceptional service, or contributing to our communities, we have the power to positively shape the future of our profession.

The road ahead may have its uncertainties, but together, we can continue to make 2025 a year of progress, growth, and achievement. Let’s embrace the challenges, seize the opportunities, and continue raising the bar for our industry. I look forward to working with each of you in the months ahead!

SCK MLS:
About South Central Kansas MLS

South Central Kansas MLS (SCK MLS) was formed in 2004 and has been a trusted source for the most complete and accurate real estate information for South Central Kansas.  SCK MLS covers a service area of 5 counties—Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Cowley, and Sumner.  SCK MLS provides authorized participants a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and a Commercial Information Exchange (CIE).  SCK MLS currently provides services to approximately 2,500 real estate participants and subscribers.

SCK MLS provides real estate professionals with reliable, cost-effective access to a variety of multiple listing service products and services to serve their business needs in today’s fast-paced industry.

MLS is a means by which authorized participants make blanket unilateral offers of cooperation and compensation to other participants and is a facility for the orderly correlation and dissemination of listing information among the participants so they may better serve their clients and the public.  MLS property listings can be viewed publicly through kansasresidential.com (powered by Homesnap) or at Realtor.com, in addition to many other subscriber websites.

CIE serves as a commercial information exchange and can be found at kscommercialre.com.  Participants who have been retained by sellers of commercial property to market those properties may submit information on those properties to the CIE.  Participants who have been retained by buyers of a commercial property may submit information of the type of property sought to the CIE.  Any compensation agreements related to the property included in the CIE compilation must be made on an individual basis outside of the CIE between the Participants involved.  A CIE is not an MLS, no offers of cooperation and compensation are communicated through filing information on a property within the CIE.

SCK MLS helped facilitate over 12,654 transactions, worth over $2.4 Billion. SCK MLS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the REALTORS of South Central Kansas.
