2025 RSCK President
Christy Friesen

RSCK Members,

As we round the corner into the second half of the year, I’ve been reflecting on how rapidly our industry is changing - and how vital it is for us to stay ahead of the curve while also staying rooted in service and advocacy.

One of the most exciting shifts we’re seeing is the rise of artificial intelligence and automation in real estate. From AI-generated listing descriptions and marketing content to chatbots and transaction management tools, technology is changing how we work. For some, these tools feel like a superpower. For others, they raise big questions: Is this compliant? Is it ethical? Am I being replaced?

Here’s the truth: nothing will ever replace the local expertise, human empathy, and trust we offer our clients. But we also can’t afford to ignore the tools that are reshaping consumer expectations. If you haven’t explored the possibilities yet, this is a great time to get curious - watch a demo, test out a virtual staging app, or talk to colleagues who are experimenting. We don’t need to be tech experts, but we do need to stay informed, adaptable, and open-minded. Our clients are evolving - and so must we if we want to remain relevant.

At the same time, our value as REALTORS goes far beyond the latest apps. It’s about advocacy, professionalism, and being part of something bigger than our individual businesses. That’s where involvement really matters.

Whether it’s serving on a committee, volunteering for a community project, or investing in RPAC, every act of engagement is a way to shape the future of our industry. When I first got involved with RSCK, I was very green and wasn’t sure what I could contribute - but I quickly realized that showing up was the most important step. Committee work gave me connections, insight, and a much deeper appreciation for how much effort goes into protecting our profession. That naturally led me to support RPAC and our legislative efforts, which protect not only our profession, but the consumers that we serve.

If you’ve ever considered applying for a leadership or committee position, now is the time! Committee Applications for 2026 open July 16. You don’t need to have it all figured out - you just need to show up. That’s how we grow, that’s how we lead, and that’s how we protect what we’ve built.

Until next time,
Christy Friesen
2025 President, RSCK Board of Directors

SCK MLS:
About South Central Kansas MLS

South Central Kansas MLS (SCK MLS) was formed in 2004 and has been a trusted source for the most complete and accurate real estate information for South Central Kansas.  SCK MLS covers a service area of 5 counties—Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Cowley, and Sumner.  SCK MLS provides authorized participants a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and a Commercial Information Exchange (CIE).  SCK MLS currently provides services to approximately 2,500 real estate participants and subscribers.

SCK MLS provides real estate professionals with reliable, cost-effective access to a variety of multiple listing service products and services to serve their business needs in today’s fast-paced industry.

MLS is a means by which authorized participants make blanket unilateral offers of cooperation and compensation to other participants and is a facility for the orderly correlation and dissemination of listing information among the participants so they may better serve their clients and the public.  MLS property listings can be viewed publicly through kansasresidential.com (powered by Homesnap) or at Realtor.com, in addition to many other subscriber websites.

CIE serves as a commercial information exchange and can be found at kscommercialre.com.  Participants who have been retained by sellers of commercial property to market those properties may submit information on those properties to the CIE.  Participants who have been retained by buyers of a commercial property may submit information of the type of property sought to the CIE.  Any compensation agreements related to the property included in the CIE compilation must be made on an individual basis outside of the CIE between the Participants involved.  A CIE is not an MLS, no offers of cooperation and compensation are communicated through filing information on a property within the CIE.

SCK MLS helped facilitate over 12,654 transactions, worth over $2.4 Billion. SCK MLS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the REALTORS of South Central Kansas.
