Season’s Greetings
Happy Holidays to all! I want to begin by wishing each and every one of you a wonderful holiday season.
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, RSCK hosted a “Coffee with Candidates” event at The Hive in Downtown Wichita. The gathering featured three candidates from the USD 259 School Board and three candidates running for City Council. This event provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to engage with the candidates in a relaxed setting and gain insight into their campaign platforms and perspectives.
I want to express our appreciation to Gentry for leveraging her relationships with City Council members. Her efforts have encouraged the Council to consider delaying action for 90 days and to involve landlords, tenants, and housing experts in developing balanced, practical solutions. Additionally, she has advocated for conducting an economic impact analysis. Gentry’s dedication and influence make her a valuable asset to the association.
RSCK remains committed to supporting safe, stable, and quality housing for all Wichita residents. However, the association has concerns about the proposed ordinances, which it believes would increase housing costs, reduce supply, and discourage investment—while failing to address the fundamental issues of code enforcement and program inefficiency. This is an issue the Government Affairs Committee will continue to focus on in 2026.
As we wrap up another great year, I want to extend a big thank you to the Government Affairs Committee members for all your hard work and dedication. I truly appreciate everything you’ve done over the past year. It’s been a pleasure serving as chair of this committee, and working with such a committed team has been both fun and rewarding. I’m grateful for your positive energy and shared focus on what matters most. Here’s to continued progress and success in the year ahead!
