PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
2025 RSCK President
Christy Friesen
RSCK Members,
As my year as President of the REALTORS® of South Central Kansas comes to a close, I’m filled with gratitude for the people who’ve made this experience so rewarding.
I’ve learned more than I ever expected—about leadership, the industry, and our incredible real estate community. I’m thankful for the colleagues who educated, guided, and encouraged me through every new challenge. The friendships built over the past several years of serving on the Board of Directors will stay with me long after this role ends.
Looking at our local market today, it’s clear that 2025 has been a year of recalibration. While some price ranges continue to move steadily, overall inventory isn’t flying off the shelves. We’ve entered a seasonal slowdown layered with a sense of economic caution. Buyers are watching interest rates, job stability, and the broader economy closely. Many sellers are taking a wait-and-see approach, creating a market that demands patience, creativity, and strong communication.
At the same time, we’re facing an emerging issue that can’t be ignored: homeowners insurance—particularly as it relates to the age of roofs—has become a major concern for homebuyers and sellers alike. Buyers are struggling to find affordable coverage, or any coverage at all, when the roof of a potential purchase reaches a certain age, even if it remains in good condition. Sellers, in turn, are being forced to replace roofs that still have several years of life left. This challenge impacts negotiations, underwriting, and affordability, and it’s something our association will need to help members and clients navigate in the coming year. Education and advocacy will be critical to ensure consumers understand both their options and the importance of maintaining insurable homes.
This environment underscores the value of professionalism and education within our ranks. Agents who understand shifting economic pressures, the complexities of insurance policies, and the range of financing options are the ones best equipped to guide clients with confidence. That’s where our collective focus on learning and ethical practice continues to shine. Buyers and sellers alike seek knowledgeable, ethical agents who can help them make smart, secure decisions in uncertain times. That’s what we do best—and that’s what will carry us through future challenges.
It has been a privilege to serve as your 2025 President. Thank you to our members, leadership team, volunteers, and staff for your dedication to raising the bar for our profession and our community. Together, we’ve strengthened our association and positioned RSCK for continued success in the years ahead.
Best wishes for the holiday season and the year ahead!
Christy Friesen,
RSCK 2025 President

SCK MLS:
About South Central Kansas MLS
South Central Kansas MLS (SCK MLS) was formed in 2004 and has been a trusted source for the most complete and accurate real estate information for South Central Kansas. SCK MLS covers a service area of 5 counties—Sedgwick, Butler, Harvey, Cowley, and Sumner. SCK MLS provides authorized participants a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and a Commercial Information Exchange (CIE). SCK MLS currently provides services to approximately 2,500 real estate participants and subscribers.
SCK MLS provides real estate professionals with reliable, cost-effective access to a variety of multiple listing service products and services to serve their business needs in today’s fast-paced industry.
MLS is a means by which authorized participants make blanket unilateral offers of cooperation and compensation to other participants and is a facility for the orderly correlation and dissemination of listing information among the participants so they may better serve their clients and the public. MLS property listings can be viewed publicly through kansasresidential.com (powered by Homesnap) or at Realtor.com, in addition to many other subscriber websites.
CIE serves as a commercial information exchange and can be found at kscommercialre.com. Participants who have been retained by sellers of commercial property to market those properties may submit information on those properties to the CIE. Participants who have been retained by buyers of a commercial property may submit information of the type of property sought to the CIE. Any compensation agreements related to the property included in the CIE compilation must be made on an individual basis outside of the CIE between the Participants involved. A CIE is not an MLS, no offers of cooperation and compensation are communicated through filing information on a property within the CIE.
SCK MLS helped facilitate over 12,654 transactions, worth over $2.4 Billion. SCK MLS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the REALTORS of South Central Kansas.
